How to have Fun at your own Wedding
You spend hundreds of hours planning your wedding. Choosing the date, bridesmaid dresses, your gown, guest list, venue, vendors and much more. You want your family and friends to enjoy themselves and have fun. So don't forget to have fun yourself!
One or two days before the big day is the time to remember what the day is really about. It's about celebrating your love. Whatever isn't done, isn't done. Delegate any final details and let it go.
A few weeks ago we photographed and filmed Malia and Taylor's wedding at Splendor Pond in Mooresville, NC. If we had to choose the happiest bride we ever worked with...it would be Malia!
Maybe it was the race she ran in the morning of her wedding! Exercise is known to produce stress-stabilizing endorphins.
Here are five tips to consider:
1. Hire Experienced Vendors. Wedding professionals, especially your DJ, Photographer and Videographer are not only experienced in their craft, they are experienced with the wedding process and following a timeline. Give yourself peace of mind and touch base with all vendors the week of the wedding. Keep everyone in the loop.
2. Get a Wedding Planner. If you're a super busy couple we suggest a wedding planner. If you want to do it yourself, you may consider a day-of coordinator. Wedding venues often include them with your package.
5. Take pausing moments. Many of our couples say the day flies by or it was a whirlwind. Allow yourself the time to pause for key moments. Be present. Plan ahead for some quiet time with your spouse. Make sure whoever is tasked with keeping things on schedule knows to allow for a few quiet moments. And again...make sure you eat. So many couples don't make time to eat at the reception. Ask the caterer to make plates ahead of time.
The final and most important advice we can give you is to remember the big picture. It's about marrying the person you want to grow old with. It's not about throwing a big party. Like many things in life, you will run into hiccups when planning your wedding. That's ok. Imperfection is inevitable. Embrace it.
