A Love Story and Baby makes Three

Image
Photographs are one's legacy. They connect us to our past. They remind us of people, places, and the stories of our lives. They help us to know who we are. One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is creating images that will become family heirlooms.   We have been honored to be part of Alex and Eddie's incredible story. From their engagement session at BB&T ballpark in Charlotte, to their Wedding Day at the Holiday Inn Charlotte. And more recently, to their maternity and newborn photo session. We asked Alex and Eddie to share some details about how they met, their engagement and the decision to start a family. Let the adventure begin! Alex and Eddie have known each other for seventeen years. They grew up as next door neighbors when Eddie was 11 and Alex was 8. Their friendship grew as they spent afternoons playing basketball, swimming and roaming around the neighborhood. Eventually in high school they became a couple around 2008. They attended the usual school dan...

Wedding Venue Checklist

Image
You're engaged! Congratulations. Weddings are romantic and wonderful. And weddings are also a business transaction. The biggest chunk of your wedding budget will go to the venue. And finding the perfect venue isn't always easy. There are many options to choose from.  Whether you're looking for a barn, an elegant ballroom or a cozy inn. You want to choose a venue that fits with the theme and vision of your wedding day. It also needs to accommodate the bridal party and number of guests you are expecting to attend. It's much more than the cost of renting the space. It's price per-plate, taxes and service charges. Here is a checklist of questions to get you started: 1.  What is the food and beverage charge per person? Or are beverages by consumption? 2.  If there is not in-house catering, ask for a list of preferred caterers. Is  there the option of using an outside caterer?  3. Are there kitchen facilities? 4. Any additional ...

A Surprise Marriage Proposal At Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens

Image
The story of your marriage proposal will be told to family, friends and strangers for the rest of your lives. Some of the words may fade, but you'll never forget how excited and happy you felt on that day.  Kristy and Jacob met at a popular sushi bar in Charlotte , NC . It was a Friday night and the only seats left were at the bar. They sat next each other. Jacob was taken by Kristy's beauty and proceeded to tell her his repertoire of "dad jokes". Kristy thought he was kind of cute, aside from the jokes. After eating, he asked if she wanted to go next door for a drink. She took him up on the invitation. Today Kristy says, "it turned out to be the best decision of my life". She and Jacob's relationship evolved over time and eventually they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They talked about getting married and Jacob hinted it was coming. The month leading up to the engagement, Jacob trie...

How many photos do you get from a Wedding Photographer?

Image
This is a question that every couple should ask. The more important factor to consider though, is quality not quantity. Anyone with a camera can take lots of pictures. What you want are great images that are well-composed and professionally edited. Amazing photos that capture the emotion of your wedding day.  A professional and experienced Wedding Photographer should take 100-150 shots per hour. The number of photos also depends on the number of hours booked and if there is a second shooter. Two photographers will capture the same moment at different angles. An example is the bride's aisle walk. It's a key wedding moment. One photographer will focus on the groom's expression as he sees his bride for the first time. While another photographer will focus on the bride as she walks toward the groom. There will be multiple shots capturing different moments and expressions. Getting-ready shots are a lot of fun. Sometimes it's the only down time a bride and groom w...
